Features and Build Quality

The G24's panel, as mentioned, is unusual in combining a glossy surface with TN+Film technology and 24-inches of girth. In most other regards, it's pretty standard for this type of screen and boasts a 1,920 x 1,200 native resolution and 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio.

Given that the G24 is aimed squarely at the gaming market, we'll give its brash metallic-copper styling vibe the benefit of the doubt. At least it's striking and fun compared to the usual drab and anonymous black and silver efforts that currently dominate the monitor landscape - the general feeling in the office was actual surprise and appreciation for something different.

As for build quality, well, that's something we'll be a little more objective about. The G24 is well enough screwed together. But it's relatively flimsy, too, and hewn from some pretty light weight plastics. The quality of the metallic orange finish is actually very good though and seems quite hard wearing, even if it is difficult to photograph accurately.


If you're a LAN gamer with plans to lug your monitor to away games regularly, the G24's surprising lightness will be a boon, however there's no handle built in which is a bit of a miss in our opinion. For everyone else, it leaves a slightly uneasy sense of cheapness, as does the tilt-only stand.

Anywho, elsewhere the G24 gets brownie points for offering all the really important input options – DVI, HDMI and VGA – and hence full HDCP support for playing back Blu-ray movies and other protected content.
